New York Haul

Hey Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed my last post about my travel essentials.

Today’s post is going to be a New York Haul; as you will know from my last post I went on holiday to New York with my family last week so I thought I would show you some of the things that I picked up.

Notebook and pencil-case from Paper Source

I got this really cute notebook and pencil-case from a really cute stationery shop called Paper Source. The shop was one of those shops where you walk in and want to buy everything – if you are ever in Soho in New York I would encourage you to go and have a look in there.

Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadow palette from Sephora

I have wanted this palette for sooo long but in the UK it was so expensive so when I saw it in Sephora and saw that it was about £15 cheaper I just knew I had to pick it up.
It is so beautiful and all of the colours are so me – if you want me to do a review of this palette then just let me know in the comments.

Smith and Cult Nail Polish from Space NK and BirchBox
Shades (left to right):  Doe my Dear, Stockholme Syndrome and Psycho Candy.

As with the eye shadow palette, the nail polishes was cheaper in America than in the UK so that is why I decided to buy them there rather than at home.

For those of you who live in the UK and would still like to purchase either of the items you can buy the eye shadow palette on Cult Beauty and the nail polishes in Space NK.

Mini Rosy Lips Vaseline

How cute is this mini vaseline?
When I saw it I internally squealed, it is just adorable plus it is the perfect size to keep in your handbag.

New York page markers

I saw these New York themed page markers and just had to pick them up as they were so cute!
I have an obsession with page markers/sticky notes and these will come in very handy for school.

Victoria’s Secret Sports Bra

I saw this sports bra in VS and fell in love! I love zebras and the colours are so me, so I just knew I had to pick it up and for only $15, which I personally think is great for Victoria’s Secret.

As a birthday present and a special treat from my parents they bought me a Kate Spade handbag (& they were having a sale) so if you would like to see a ‘What’s in my handbag?’, then let me know in the comments below 😊

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Hope to see you back here soon,

Summer in the City 2016

Hey Everyone,

This year I was lucky enough to go to Summer in the City with one of my best friends so I thought I would let you know about my experience.

Gina and I went for the whole weekend as we wanted to get the whole experience of Summer in the City and there were people we wanted to meet on both days.

The meet ups we went to on Saturday were Carly Rowena and then Victoria from IntheFrow and Roxi from Roxxsaurus.

Carly was one of the sweetest people I have ever met, talking to her felt like I was talking to a friend and she made us feel very special. She has inspired me in so many ways so it was so lovely to meet her in person as it made it more real.
To make it even more surreal she loved the card I gave her and put it on her Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat!
I really hope I get the chance to meet Carly again in the future because she was so lovely and made me smile!

I loved meeting Victoria and Roxi, they were both so lovely and easy to talk to. They both looked gorgeous and gave great hugs!
I have loved their videos for so long and I am so happy I got the chance to meet them in person!

I also saw Suzie from HelloOctober and Alix from ICovetThee who are two of my favourite YouTubers and they walked past me but I didn’t want to bother them so unfortunately I didn’t get to meet them like I hoped 😦

On Saturday we were also lucky enough to meet Mark Ferris, who I absolutely love.

We couldn’t get tickets to his actual meet up but he did an impromptu meet up in the main hall so got to meet him really briefly but he was so sweet and also extremely tall.
Mark really went out of his way to meet as many fans as he could on Saturday and I really admire him for that.

Then on Sunday our meet up was for Jon Cozart.

I hadn’t watched many of Jon’s videos before coming to Summer in the City but we watched him perform on Saturday, once by himself then once with Dodie and saw him on a panel on Sunday and even just after watching his first performance I instantly fell in love with his personality.
He was so kind and funny and it’s hard not to smile when around him – he also complimented me on my hair, which made me smile!

On Saturday we mostly went to the meet ups and explored all the different areas as it was our first year at Summer in the City so we wanted to see what kind of things there were on offer- from merchandise stalls to fun fair rides.

Watching Jon perform was amazing and hilarious! For me it was the first time I had seen him perform and one of the first times I had seen any of his content so it was great!

In the evening we watched Dodie perform, which was incredible! Her songs were beautiful and her voice is just amazing!
I hadn’t heard any of Dodie’s songs before Saturday night so for me it made it even more speical, being able to see the songs performed live.

Then Jon joined Dodie on stage for some songs, which was also incredible!

Then after Dodie had finished all of her friends came on stage to dance and sing along with her which was so cute and really made me smile!

On Sunday we went to some panels, which we didn’t get to do on Saturday because all of the ones we wanted to go to were full.
We went to the Creative Process with Jack Howard, Nicki N’ Sammy, Vincent Kavanagh and Lucy Moon; it was so interesting to find out the different ways in which creators find the ideas for their videos or films.
The other panel we went to was the USA vs US Creator Experience – this panel was chaired by Evan Edinger with Jon Cozart, Jamie Jo, the Mandeville Sisters and Laurbubble. This panel was so interesting as they talked about how different situations were handled in both countries and how creators and viewers interacted.

Creative Process Panel
USA vs UK Creator Experience

All in all the weekend was absolutely incredible for me! I had so much fun meeting so many amazing people, listening to panels and watching unbelievable performances.

Thank you to everyone who made it so special and I hope I will get the chance to go next year 🙂

Travel Essentials

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I haven’t posted in quite a while!
I was really busy with my AS exams then I went away to Cambodia for 3 weeks with my school to do some volunteering and trekking – let me know if you would like me to do a blog post on my experience in the comments – so I have been really busy.

I really want to get back into blogging and I am aiming to be put up quite a few more blog posts in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for new posts.

I am off to New York for a few days this week so I thought I would show you my top travel essentials that I always take with me when I travel.

I will link as many things as I can incase any of you would like to see the items I am taking.

The bag I am going to take with me is my Black Longchamp backpack – I use this all the time as it actually holds quite a lot whilst being really comfortable to wear for a long period of time.
Also, I will be using it whilst I am in New York so taking it as hand luggage will free up space in my suitcase.

My notebook is James and Friends by Jim Chapman.
I always take a notebook with me when I travel as I find long flights are always good times to write lists, plan blog posts or play games.

I always take my iPad mini with me when travelling as it is so much easier to carry than a laptop and I can use it to watch films or play games on the plane or in New York I can use it to watch YouTube or take photos.

I ordered a new book for this trip and chose Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan. I often like to read on planes so I thought a book about New York would be very fitting.
I have heard very good things about Sarah Morgan books so I am really looking forward to reading this.

Obviously, I take my phone and charger with me so I will either keep them in my pocket or my bag.

I am taking my Frends “Layla” Headphones as they are so comfy to wear so they are great for long flights (and come on they are rose gold).

I take my Sunglasses with me in my carry on so I have them with me when I land as well as my actual glasses to wear on the plane.

The toiletries I like to take are Simple make up wipes, Hand Sanitiser such as this one, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream and This Works Deep Sleep spray.

Other things that I always take are my camera, purse, a mini dry shampoo like this one, lip balm and fluffy socks.

I hope you all liked this post about my travel essentials – make sure to let me know your travel essentials in the comments.

See you soon,

EmiMarie x
