Summer Beauty Essentials

The past few weeks in the UK we have been experiencing a heat wave and as many people know, us Brits are never one to pass on complaining about the weather – whether that it too hot or too cold.

I’m not the best with heat as I have very fair skin and ginger hair so I have been one of the complainers but I thought I would share some of my summer beauty essentials that I have been using during this ridiculously hot spell.

*after writing this post and getting ready to put it up the weather has gone back to typical England and is cloudy and chilly but at least we had a bit of sun to enjoy*

Make Up

I have spoken about this product quite a lot on my blog as it is one of my favourite make up products at the moment but I am really loving it at the moment because it has SPF50+ – because of my fair skin I have to always wear factor 50+ suncream to prevent myself getting burnt so this is a great product for me.
It is also gives great coverage (which I’m loving at the moment because I have many breakouts) but is very lightweight on the skin so you don’t feel like you are wearing a lot of make up which is what you want in the summer and with the heat.

As it has been so hot I haven’t been trying to keep my make up to a minimum and use very few products.
I have been loving using this blush because it is a cream/liquid formula so it doesn’t get cakey on the skin like a powder product would. It is also a blush and highlighter in one as it has a slight shimmer to it so I only have to use one product rather than two.

In the summer I love wearing nail polish, when I actually have the patience to put it on – doing my nails is my least favourite beauty thing to do as I get frustrated when it goes wrong and takes so long to dry.
But when I do put on nail polis in the summer I love to wear bright colours and this nail polish from Smith & Cult is exactly that. It is a bright pink and I love wearing colours like this in the summer, especially on my toe nails.

I use powder all year round because I have oily skin but in the summer I use it every time I put on make up.
I have tried quite a few powders but this is always the one I go back to because it is so cheap, lasts a long time and keeps my skin matte for the longest (most of the time).

In the summer especially, this is one of my favourite make up products as it helps my make up stay on for such a long time and keeps me less shiny.
I would recommend using a setting spray in summer anyway to help keep your make up on longer and this one is definitely my favourite.

When I am not wearing any make up this is the SPF that I will use and it is great because it isn’t too thick and doesn’t make you look too shiny.
I have very oily skin so anything can make my skin look shiny but as far as suncreams go, this is one of the best that I have found.
It is also specifically designed to be used on the face so it is very good for sensitive skin and isn’t too harsh.

I have noticed recently that under my eyes, the skin is becoming more dry and the skin needs a bit more love so I have started to use an eye cream more often.
The one that I found that I like is this Origins one with SPF20 – having the SPF makes it perfect for summer as you know that the sensitive skin under your eyes is also being protected.

As I have such pale skin and I burn so easily I have to be very careful about what I use on it – over the years I have tried loads of brands of suncream to find one I actually liked and my favourite one I found was the Kiehl’s Suncream.
I hate wearing suncream anyway but finding one that is a bit less horrible makes it easier to put on.
This suncream isn’t too thick and greasy so feels quite nice on the skin and lasts for such a long time and it is waterproof (to a certain extent) so you can wear it in the pool or the sea and not have to worry too much about getting burnt.

In the summer I always find using a body scrub makes my skin feel so much nicer. When you have been out in the sun, on the beach or just have had so much sun cream on, using a body scrub in the shower makes you feel so much more refreshed and makes your skin feel great.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Let me know what some of your summer beauty essentials are 😊

New York High Line

I have been lucky enough go to New York the past two summers and it quickly became one of my favourite places in the world. I took so many photos as I wanted to capture the memories and have them to look back on.
One of my favourite things that we did on these trips was visit the High Line. It is amazing because it is this long stretch of this old railway line that has been transformed into a beautiful garden walkway.
The views of the city below are incredible, there are amazing pieces of artwork all along it as well as so many beautiful plants and flowers.

We only managed to walk a small part of it because it was so hot but we also got distracted by the Chelsea Markets which are located underneath part of the High Line.

I have lots of photos that I took from when we visited and I wanted to share some of them with you – I hope you like them.

This is a really cute cafe under the stairs at the start of the High Line.

When we went the first time there was this stand selling shaved ice called ‘People’s Pops’ and to make it they scraped the ice off a solid block of ice right in front of you, which was so cool!
They have lots of different flavours of syrup that change every day – the flavour we had was lime and chamomile and it was so delicious and perfect for a hot summers day.

I know this was a bit of a random post but I hope you enjoyed seeing my photos.
If you are ever in New York, especially in the summer, I would highly recommend visiting the High Line.

This post isn’t one of my usual ones but on Tuesday evening I got a notification on my phone saying I had 100 FOLLOWERS on my blog and I was over the moon!

I know for most people that won’t be a very big number but for me it is huge!
When I first started my blog I never thought anyone would actually read it, let alone 100 people and I am so happy and grateful for that.

Blogging for me is one of my happy places and something I adore – if I could I would spend all my time and energy focusing on making my blog better and putting out more content.

After my exams are over I am going to put a lot more time into it and I have lots of plans for what I want to do such as focus on the design more and get a new theme, improve my photography and much more.

Thank you again for everyone who follows my blog, likes and comments on my post or reads my posts – it means the world to me and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.

See you next week with one of my usual posts,
