Current Skincare Routine

Current Skincare Routine

Today I thought I would share with you my Current Skincare Routine; I have been wanting to do this post for such a long time but I was never really at the stage where I was happy with my Skincare Routine but finally I think I have reached a point where I am happy with it so I thought I would share with you the products that I have been using recently.

If you have read my Glossier Haul & Review Post then you may know that I picked up a few skincare bits up when I visited New York in September and I have been using them pretty much everyday since I got them.

I’d say my skin is combination because I do occasionally suffer with some dryness but overall my skin is oily most of the time.
I also suffer with redness and spots – I also get a lot of scarring because my spots take a long time to heal so I often have a lot of marks from previous spots that I have.

In the morning the first thing I will do is cleanse my skin with the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser.
I just massage this into dry skin and then wash it off with a warm flannel.

Then I will use a toner or a serum – the serum that I have been using everyday is the Glossier Super Pure serum. This really helps with redness and blemishes and I have noticed a difference since using it. I sometimes also use the Sunday Riley Martian Toner which I do still really like but I haven’t had as good results with it as the Super Pure serum. The Sunday Riley one is also much more expensive than the Glossier one but I got it as a gift.

The moisturiser I use is the Esteé Lauder Day Wear Matte – I got this at the airport on the way to Boston in September after my previous Esteé Lauder Moisturiser ran out and I bought it thinking that it was the same product as before but it is actually a different product and they don’t do the one I previously used anymore. However, I prefer the Day Wear Matte sooo much more than the one I was using before.
I have tried so many mattifying moisturisers and this is the only one that I have tried that actually makes a significant difference to my skin and I love it.

If I have make up on from the day I will take it off using the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish – you apply it to try skin then wash it off with a warm muslin cloth and it removes even waterproof mascara, it is amazing!

After taking off my make up I will do the exact same as I did in the morning but I will change my moisturiser.
I have oily skin but it can get quite dry, especially in winter, if I don’t use a hydrating moisturiser so I use the Sunday Riley Tidal Moisturiser. Again, I got this as a gift and it is pretty pricey but I really like it.
I got this for Christmas and I am only just getting near the bottom of the pot – it lasts for ages! You don’t need that much to cover your whole face so if you use it sparingly then it can last you a long time.
I really like it because it does really help moisturise my skin and as I put it on in the evening I don’t mind as much if it makes my skin a bit greasy but it just helps hydrate my skin overnight.

Sometimes I also change up the Glossier serum – in the morning I use the Super Pure serum and in the evening I will either use this on its own or I will also put some of the Super Bounce serum over the top for extra hydration.

In the evening I will also always try to put on some kind of spot treatment to help clear up my spots.
I don’t remember I time when I didn’t have at least one spot so I try to always use them.
I have tried a lot of spot treatments over the years and still haven’t found one that makes a significant difference but the ones that I am using at the moment are the La Roche Posay Effeclar AI and the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil stick or just plain Tea Tree Oil.

I also occasionally use the Sunday Riley UFO Oil in the evening and leave it on overnight to help clear up my skin. I really like how it feels on my skin but haven’t seen a significant difference to my skin but maybe I have to use it more frequently to see a bigger difference.

I try to use face masks at least once a week to try and help with the spot situations on my face – I have tried quite a few and have some that I love and some that my skin didn’t agree with.

Recently I used the Sunday Riley Martian Face Mask and I had the most horrible reaction to it – it made my face red for days and then my skin started peeling all around where I had applied it.
So I wouldn’t recommend it to people if you have sensitive skin or if you do try it, maybe don’t leave it on overnight like I did (even though it said it on the back of the tube).

One mask that I am trying out at the moment is the Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy mask and so far I am really liking it. It is a detoxifying mask and I have noticed that my skin feels calmer and smoother after I use it so I am going to continue using it.

Another one that I have pretty much finished now is the ESPA Essential Cleansing Mask – I got this when I went to a hotel last year and visited the spa there and I really liked it and have pretty much finished the whole pot. It lasted me a really long time and it makes my skin feel really nice after using it; I didn’t notice any significant changes after using it but it was a lovely product to use.

One random product that I like to use on my spots to help calm them down and help heal the scarring is Sudocrem – it is a product that is used commonly on babies but I heard a few people say that they used it on their spots and it does actually help quite a lot.

My mum is a big fan of La Roche Posay and keeps telling me that I should try some of their products so I really want to try some of the products from the Effeclar Duo range to help with spots and scarring.

Some people may think that some of the products I have mentioned are rediculous because they are pretty expensive and I agree that a few of these products are on the much pricey-er side but as I said previously, quite a few of these were gifts but also I don’t mind spending a bit extra on products for my skin because you only have one face so why not treat it with nice products.
But I also know that sometimes cheaper products do work just as well, you just have to find the right ones.

I hope you enjoyed this post on my Current Skincare Routine!
Let me know if you have tried any of these products or if there are any products you recommend that might help my skin.
