Favourite Netflix TV Shows 2017

Favourite Netflix TV Shows 2017

I’m sorry this post is late and I haven’t posted in a few weeks – I was in Australia visiting my cousins and didn’t have any time to write posts while I was out there.
Sticking to the theme of 2017 Favourites I thought I would share my Favourite Netflix TV Shows 2017. I know this sounds sad but I spend a lot of my time watching TV shows…it is my favourite way to relax and wind down.
I love getting lost in fictional worlds that take you away from the worries of everyday life and take you to a different world of amazing characters and stories.

These shows aren’t necessarily Netflix Original shows but they are shows that are shown on British Netflix that I watch. Also, I apologise in advance for my rubbish descriptions of these TV shows…if you are confused you can find better explanations online, or you could just watch the shows to find out!

The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries follows two brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, after they return to the town of Mystic Falls as vampires; it also follows Elena Gilbert, a girl who has just lost her parents and it shows the story of what happens after Elena meets the Salvatore’s and the battle between the two brothers for Elena’s affection.

This is now one of my all time favourite TV Shows and I have actually watched it the whole way through twice in one year so is probably my favourite show that I have discovered in 2017. This show has been around for a long time but I just never got round to watching it for one reason or another…I think part of it was because I had heard it was pretty gory and bloody and that put me off it. Don’t get me wrong there are some parts that are a bit too bloody for me but that doesn’t put me off the show. My favourite characters on the show are Damon and Alaric.

The Originals

The Originals is a spin off show of The Vampire Diaries; it is set in New Orleans and it follows the Mikaelson family that are the ‘original’ vampires, the first vampires ever created, and all the trouble and chaos they cause and get caught up in.

I was really interested in watching this after seeing The Vampire Diaries because it has some of the same characters that I really liked from TVD like Klaus, Elijah and Hayley. I have now finished all 4 Seasons and can’t wait for Season 5 to come out, but I’m also sad because it is going to be the last season! It took me quite a while to get through this, I wasn’t as hooked on it as I was with The Vampire Diaries but I still really love it. My favourite characters are Hayley and Elijah.

Jane The Virgin

Jane The Virgin is about a girl called Jane who gets accidentally artificially inseminated and she gets pregnant, while she is still a virgin. It follows her story and all of the things that follow her getting pregnant.

I started watching this after my best friend Sofia told me to watch it (hi Sofia if you are reading this) and at first I wasn’t quite sure about it but now I do really like it. It is a nice show to put on in the background or a show to watch that doesn’t require too much concentration when you just want to chill out. And I mean have you seen Justin Baldoni who plays Rafael? 😍

Shadowhunters

Shadowhunters is based on a book series called ‘The Mortal Instruments’ by Cassandra Clare. This show follows Clary Fray, an 18 year old girl who lives in New York, who gets thrown into the supernatural world after she finds out she is a Shadowhunter (someone who fights demons). It follows Clary, the other shadowhunters she meets as well as lots of other supernatural people she meets along the way and how she is dealing with this new world she has been thrown into.

I have been watching this show for a while but Season 2 aired in 2017 so I thought I would mention it. I have to admit, this isn’t the best made TV show out there but I do really like it. I love it because I am such a big fan of The Mortal Instruments books that the show is based on and I just love anything remotely similar to that. The show doesn’t exactly follow the books but I kind of like that because it means that there are surprises even if you have read the books. Also, have you seen this cast…? They are all so stunning *cough* Matthew Daddario *cough* !!

Riverdale

Riverdale follows a group of teenagers in the town of ‘Riverdale’ after their classmate has been killed; it follows how they uncover the truth about this death and whether is was an accident or was it something else?

This is a show you have probably heard a lot about in 2017 because it’s been talked about everywhere! Season 2 aired in 2017 and there were so many people looking forward to season 2, including me…but I have to say at the moment I do prefer Season 1. We are only halfway through Season 2 at the moment but currently I do think I prefer Season 1.
I also love the cast of this show, especially Cole Sprouse who plays Jughead and Lili Reinhart who plays Betty. I am a big Suite Life fan at heart so I love anything with Cole Sprouse as Cody was my favourite.

Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls follows the mother and daughter duo that is Lorelai and Rory and shares the story of their lives and what they get up to and who they meet along the way. It is a story of love, friendship, family and much more and it such an amazing feel good show.

This is a show that has been around for years and so many people have loved it and told me to watch it and I am so glad that I did because I absolutely love it! It is definitely one of my all time favourite shows; it is just such a feel good show that you can’t help but smile while watching. My favourite characters are Luke, Lorelai, Jess and Paris.

If you haven’t watched it I would highly recommend it!

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is set 10 years after the end of the original series of Gilmore Girls and it shows what Lorelai and Rory have been up to and where they are 10 years on.

I have to say that this definitely wasn’t as good as the original seasons but I still loved it so much because it was an insight into what Lorelai and Rory were doing years later. My favourite ‘episode’ was definitely Fall but my god the way it ended!! There better be another season of this because I’m not sure if I can cope with the cliffhanger that we were left on!
But overall I did really enjoy watching it, but it wasn’t as good as the original.

Other shows I want to start watching:

  • One Tree Hill
  • Suits
  • Brooklyn 99
  • Stitchers
  • The Office
  • Parks & Recreation
  • Friends
  • Girl Boss
  • Agents of Shield
  • This is Us
  • Full House
  • Sex and The City

These shows aren’t all on Netflix but I thought I would mention them anyway.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post; I hope you either found some new shows to watch or that you already share my love for these great shows.
Let me know if you have watched any of these shows and what you thought of them and also let me know if there are any shows you think I should be watching.
