Favourite Netflix TV Shows and Films 2018

I did this post last year with my Favourite Netflix TV Shows of 2017 but I have watched quite a few more shows this year that I now love so I thought I would do an updated version with my Favourite Netflix TV Shows and Films 2018.

This post probably won’t be as long as the last one or include as many shows because a lot of the shows I watch on Netflix are my long-standing favourites that are in my last post, so if you want to read that post you can find it here.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Synopsis: Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows a team of detectives including the immature but talented Jake Peralta, who comes into immediate conflict with his new commanding officer, the serious and stern Captain Raymond Holt.

I have wanted to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a long time and finally got round to it and I’m so glad I did because I LOVE IT!
It is so so funny and it is one of those shows where you start watching it and literally can’t stop.
I finished Season 1-4 in the space of about 2 or 3 weeks and I am so desperate to watch Season 5 but I can’t find anywhere to watch it and it isn’t on Netflix 😭
I love pretty much every character on this show but my favourites would probably have to be Jake and Gina as they are both so freaking hilarious.
I have talked about this show so much to my family that my brother has even started watching it, which I am so happy about as we can now talk about it together.

Pretty Little Liars

Synopsis: Friends Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, Hanna Marin, and Spencer Hastings grow apart when their best friend Alison DiLaurentis goes missing. A year later they all begin receiving messages from the mysterious “A”, who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets.

When I was first writing out this post I completely forgot to include this show, even though it is one of my absolute favourites, just because I watched it quite a while ago. However, I did watch it after my last one of these posts so I just had to include it.
This was a show that took me a long time to start watching because I was super scared that it was going to be terrifying and it was going to give me nightmares but I was wrong and am so sad that I didn’t start watching it sooner because I love it so much!
My favourite character from this show is Spencer Hastings played by Troian Bellisario because I just think she is hilarious, so clever and just amazing!
My favourite relationship on this show is probably Ezria – Aria and Ezra – partly because I just think Ian Harding is freaking gorgeous but also because I think their relationship is really sweet.
I would really recommend watching this show, if you haven’t already!

I mean this is probably what everyone has been watching since it arrived on Netflix a few months ago.
I have wanted to watch Friends for YEARS but never found somewhere I could watch it and couldn’t properly commit because it has soooo many episodes…but when it arrived on Netflix I was so happy because it gave me and excuse to watch it and I love it so much!

I don’t think I need to do a synopsis for this one because I’m pretty sure EVERYONE knows about Friends.

Out of all the girls I think I am probably most like Monica but my favourite characters are Joey and Chandler; I just think they are both amazing and absolutely hilarious.

Alexa & Katie

Synopsis: Lifelong best friends Alexa and Katie are eagerly anticipating the start of their freshman year of high school. The two friends confront a crisis when Alexa discovers that she is ill and starts undergoing treatment for cancer, which leaves them feeling like outsiders at a time when what seems to matter most is fitting in. The girls try to navigate through high school while dealing with the illness.

This is a show I had on my watch list for quite a while but never got round to watching it. But when I finished Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 4 I really wanted to watch something new but I didn’t want anything that was too long so I saw this and thought I would give it a try because there is only one season so far with 13 episodes.
After watching the first episode I was hooked and basically watched the whole season in one sitting. I loved it because it gave me old school Disney vibes and it is just such a heart-warming show with a great message.

Episode 8 is one of my favourites mostly because of the video montage bit that they have at the end to the song ‘Wild Things’ by Alessia Cara. It is so sweet and really made me smile.

If you are looking for a heart-warming and uplifting show then you should definitely give it a watch. I mean it’s definitely not the best show out there and it is probably for a slightly younger audience but I really enjoyed watching it and I hope they make season 2.

I still have a very long list of TV shows that I want to watch, some of which are on Netflix and some of which aren’t but I have no idea if and when I’ll be able to get through them all.

The Kissing Booth

Synopsis: When Elle Evans decides to run a kissing booth at her high school’s Spring Carnival, she unexpectedly finds herself locking lips with her secret crush – the ultimate bad boy, Noah Flynn. Sparks fly, but there’s one little problem: Noah just happens to be the brother of her best friend, Lee, and is absolutely off-limits according to the rules of their friendship pact. Elle’s life is turned upside down when she realises that she must ultimately make a choice: follow the rules or follow her heart.

This film is based on the book ‘The Kissing Booth’ by Beth Reekles; I have read the book but I actually read it after I had watched the film, which I don’t usually like to do but I loved the book anyway despite having already seen the film.

This is the first proper Netflix Original film that I have watched and I loved it so much!
I have watched this film so many times since it has been released and I still love it every time I watch it. I just love how sweet and funny this film is and it is just such a feel good film.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Synopsis: Lara Jean Covey writes letters to all of her past loves, the letters are meant for her eyes only. Until one day when all the love letters are sent out to her previous loves. Her life is soon thrown into chaos when each guy she wrote a love letter to confronts her one by one.

I love love love this film! It is such a cute film that is so well made; the cinematography of this film is just amazing and it is just an all round great, feel good film.  As with The Kissing Booth I have watched it so many times since its release and I love it more and more every time.
People’s love for Noah Centineo has just taken off since this film has been released and I would have to agree because I think he is an amazing actor and he is insanely attractive but I have thought that for a while because of the other things he has been in such as The Fosters and also the little roles he had on Disney Channel a while ago.
I would 100% recommend you to watch this film if you haven’t seen it already because it is so so good!

If Netflix keeps making films as good as The Kissing Booth and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before then they are going to do so well because these two have taken off and done so well and they are amazing.

There is the new Netflix film that has just come out called ‘Sierra Burgess Is A Loser’ that also features Noah Centineo but I’m just not sure if I want to watch it – I want to see what it is like but from the trailer it just doesn’t look that great…but you never know…I’ll probably get round to watching it eventually.

I have to say that the UK Netflix selection isn’t great…it is getting better but whenever I visit other countries, especially America I am super jealous of their Netflix selection. I mean the US Netflix selection is incredible and has all the amazing TV shows including some of my all time favourites like Glee that I would love to be able to watch on repeat again and again but we just don’t have it here…sad times!
Hopefully sometime soon we will get lots more good shows and films…fingers crossed!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Let me know if you love any of the shows or films that I’ve mentioned or if there are any that you think I should watch.
