If you have followed my blog for a while or if you know me then you know I am a massive Zoe Sugg fan and she is the one person that I look up to the most, so whenever she releases anything new I always have to check it out. So when I saw she was releasing a new book I was very excited, especially as it sounded right up my street so today’s post is going to be my thoughts on Cordially Invited by Zoe Sugg.
Around the launch of Zoe’s new book she announced that she was going to be doing a few events that were different to anything she had done before and there was one in London so I knew that I had to try to get a ticket. I managed to get two tickets so I took one of my best friends with me and we were lucky enough to be sat on the front row (!!) which meant we had an amazing view and we were super close to Zoe.
The event itself was hosted by Jim Chapman, who is another YouTuber/blogger and one of Zoe’s best friends, and I couldn’t think of a better person to have hosted this event because Jim was so incredibly funny and made the whole event even better.
What I loved about this event is that, as I said before, it is unlike any other event that Zoe has done as it was a talk between Zoe and Jim to a small audience where she talked about the new book and what is going on in her life at the moment.
It was so much better than the regular book events that usually happen where you get to meet the person for all of 2 seconds and get a selfie with them – even though you didn’t get to meet Zoe, I felt like the whole event was so much more personal and you got to know more about Zoe from hearing her talk for a longer period of time.
I hope that other people like Zoe do events like this in the future because I much prefer this type of event and I had such an amazing time.
Also, as someone who usually gets quite anxious and nervous about events like this I didn’t feel anxious or nervous once the whole night which was amazing – the whole event was so lovely and the atmosphere was amazing that I didn’t even have a chance to think about being nervous.
It was also so cute because Alfie (Zoe’s boyfriend) and Mark (Zoe’s best friend) were in the audience as well as all the people she works with and I thought it was so sweet that they were all there to support her.
I also loved that there was no filming or photos allowed during the talk so it meant that everyone had their full attention on both Zoe and Jim the whole time so there were no distractions. At the end Zoe and Jim stood at the front of the stage so we had a chance to take some photos before they left and below are a few of the photos I got, and as you can see I was super close to both of them because we were on the front row.
These two photos shown below were my two favourite photos taken on the night and Zoe and Jim both look so happy and it sums up the whole event for me.
At the event we also got a signed copy of Cordially Invited, that was waiting for us on our seat when we arrived and as the event was the day before the book’s release day we all got the book a day early.
Now to talk about the book itself…
When I first heard Zoe was releasing a non-fiction book I was very excited because I have read and loved all her fiction books in the ‘Girl Online’ series so I knew that I would probably love this one too. And when I saw the kind of book that it was I got even more excited because it looked amazing!
“Cordially Invited is a blueprint for making an event and a memory out of each day. Packed full of Ideas, inspiration and DIYs for making any day a celebration”
I feel like this book is, as Zoe said at the event, all of the creative thoughts in her brain put into one place and it feels like one big blog post or a series of blog posts.
One of the things that I love about this book is that there is something for everyone, whether you like cooking and baking or you like doing DIY projects or just decorating your home.
My favourite season is Autumn so the Autumn section was the one I was most looking forward to, especially as we are now in Autumn here in the UK. The thing that I really want to try from this section is the pumpkin decorating because painting the outside is such a nice way of decorating a pumpkin without having to carve it.
I can’t wait to try some of the recipes and decorations from this book and discover new things as we go through the seasons. I’m also really excited to try some of the summer things because they look super cool; especially the summer party because I’ve always wanted to have one and maybe next year I’ll be able to finally do it with the help of Cordially Invited.
I know it sounds super cheesy but Zoe is the person that I look up to the most in my life because I am in awe of how much she has achieved in her life so far and how much she has overcome to get where she is today. I also see a lot of similarities between me and her so it is nice to have someone to look up to who you feel is quite similar to you.
Zoe has talked about her struggles with anxiety for quite a few years now and her videos and advice really helped me when I realised that I was also struggling with anxiety myself. And seeing what Zoe has achieved in her life and her career despite having anxiety always amazes me.
Even just doing events like this one must be so challenging for her but she still pushes herself and does them and I just think that is amazing. Going to events like that can be quite a challenge for me with my anxiety but seeing Zoe up on that stage talking so passionately about her new book and her career just makes me realise that anxiety doesn’t have to hold you back, you can overcome it and still do amazing things.
Zoe hasn’t let her anxiety control her and stop her from succeeding which I find incredible and it is so inspirational to me!
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Let me know if you’ve got Zoe’s new book and what you think of it and if you have been to any of the book events so far.
